520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Bangladesh, a land described by Ibn Battuta in the thirteenth century as "land of milk and honey" slowly tunned into a land of poverty, deprivation and illiteracy, British period Calcutta was capital of British rule in India at which time some progress was made in education and industrialization in Bengal; but the castern part of Bengal which is now Bangladesh, remained backward. After independence Bangladesh took its sojourn as free nation with many inherent problems.

Economy of the country had a tortuous path lying ahead with the education sector, particularly science education trailing far behind. Technology development, the vital need for prosperity of the nation suffered from the notion that agriculture is the prime need of the nation. Also, the lack of any natural resource in this small landmass was under-appreciated. For us understandably, it is not the produce of land but rather the technology skill of our large population resource, would be he primary means of carning wealth. In the near future agriculture would fast become a peripheral economic activity due to loss of land by the increasing population. This demands high priority and positive action for creating facilities for advanced technology education. It is only with our quality technology manpower we can trade with the external world and earn high income and enhance nation's prosperity.
